• What it would be like to have a treatable illness yet not receive medication because the orphanage simply cannot afford the expense.
• What it would be like at age 16 to have to leave the orphanage with no skills, education or a place to live.

Orphan Advocates International is a local 501c3 non-profit organization helping to provide opportunities to an otherwise difficult life. OAI supports a number of programs, concentrating most of their efforts in the city of Khabarovsk, Russia and surrounding regions.

There are over 700,000 orphans in Russia.

Each year 15,000 children leave the orphanage as a requirement by reaching the age of 16 or by running away.

Of these:
    11,000 are unemployed and homeless.
    3,000 resort to crime to survive.
    1,500 commit suicide.
    50% of the girls are forced into prostitution.
